ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The fitness instructor is responsible for setting the tone and energy of the Group Class and needs to engage, greet and direct members and guests, providing excellent customer service as they enter and depart the class and gym. Core responsibilities include to design and deliver health, fitness and wellness program as well as lead, inspire and motivate groups in class format through a tailored approach in a variety of formats. The instructor also needs to support, teach and encourage members to meet their goals, and monitor client training sessions and maintain records of client’s progress. The fitness instructor provides fitness facility oversight as well as partner with management to organize and deliver various health and fitness programs and promotions with an innovative approach to build a client base. Exceptional customer service and effective communication are extremely important in this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide the highest level of professional customer service, greets members, prospective members, guest and team
  • Enforce club policies and procedures with courtesy and tact
  • Lead high energy, fun, effective, safe and educational group classes in a variety of formats
  • Create and deliver comprehensive group exercise fitness programs around skill levels of participants which motivates and inspires clients
  • Build authentic relationships with all members
  • Partner with management in the development and delivery of a variety of Powerhouse Gym group exercise programs and promotion strategies
  • Maintain working knowledge of fitness, health and wellness trends to provide effective information and support to members
  • Agility to instruct with a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and provide alternate movements to accommodate different levels of fitness
  • Plan various engaging routines, music, and movements depending upon the type of class to balance healthcare with fun and motivating programs
  • Teach assigned classes on time and take ownership to cover classes with an appropriate substitute when absent
  • Ability to teach or provide a wide variety of skill levels and intensities
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas and ensure equipment and classrooms are in working order
  • Other duties as needed may apply

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have experience in instructing group exercise classes preferred
  • Have recognized industry certification in Group Exercise Instruction
  • Have cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification required
  • Understand the principles of physical fitness and proper exercise technique
  • Be able to build authentic relationships with all members
  • Have the ability to lift and carry 20 or more pounds
  • Have a reliable, professional, energetic and friendly individual with an outstanding work ethic
  • Have strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills with an ability to motivate others
  • Have the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Possess computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel
  • Minimum of one (1) national fitness certification in group exercise instruction and certification or additional training in specialty areas, including Zumba, yoga, cycle, barbell conditioning, PiYo, Pilates, Barre, U-Jam, BOSU fitness, full body conditioning and one (1) year of experience in group exercise instruction.
  • Be available to work early mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Be flexible, willing to substitute for other instructors as necessary, and be team players

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Member Services Associate is responsible for setting the tone and energy of the club, as well as greet and direct members and guest through excellent customer service as they enter and depart the gym. The primary responsibilities include new sales, servicing existing members, responding to inquiries in addition to proactively maintaining a clean environment for our members. The Member Services Associate will generate new leads, new membership sales, renew memberships of existing members. In this role will also partner with management team to deliver club advertisement, campaigns, promotions, club activities, programs and services. Exceptional customer service and effective communication are extremely important in this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide the highest level of professional customer service, greets members, prospective members, guest and team
  • Personalize members experience during check-in and departure by identifying member on a First Name basis
  • Check-in members and guests
  • Assist with member inquiries and /or re-directs, elevate inquiries as appropriate
  • Answer phones in a professional and courteous manner
  • Enforce club policies and procedures with courtesy and tact
  • Build authentic relationships with all members
  • Collaborate with team to deliver a variety of Powerhouse health, fitness and wellness programs and promotions through an innovative approach
  • Knowledgeable about facility and its amenities in order to effectively communicate and conduct facility tour
  • Process new memberships, membership renewals, update member accounts and intake of payments
  • Promote and assists members in Pro Shop and Rehab Bar sales
  • Oversee the floor and ensures facility cleanliness and safety; Follow-up on maintenance/safety concerns
  • Report any incident or accident to management
  • Open/Close facility
  • Other duties as needed may apply

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS Four-year degree in International Business and/or Business Administration. 
  • Reliable, professional, energetic and friendly individual with outstanding work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills with ability to motivate others
  • Ability to work effectively independently, and as part of a team
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, cash processing procedures
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
  • Detail-oriented, Organizational skills required
  • Experience in Sales, Customer Service, Front Desk or Fitness Industry preferred
  • Interest in health, fitness, sports and/or motivating, helping others
  • Ability to lift 25+ lbs.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification preferred
